3 SIMPLE STEPS TO REDUCE TOOTH GRINDING

Hello everyone!

Today I’m going to provide you with some tips to reduce tooth grinding in a relatively short time.

Tooth grinding is something pretty common these days because it is mainly caused by stress. As creatures living in an industrialised world, we all face some kind of stress at work or even in our daily lives.

Therefore, I decided to list 3 main things you can do to control the severity of tooth grinding.

The first one is to reduce the amount of stress. Perhaps you’ve been over doing it at work, or you don’t get enough exercise daily, you’re suffering with an unhealthy diet or you don’t get enough hydration, or simply you don’t get enough rest at all. These factors could contribute to elevated levels of stress, which is proven to be a cause of grinding.

The second thing is the quality of sleep. How do you sleep? Do you wake up repeatedly at night? Is it possibly hard for you to breathe during the night? People who normally snore, or people with a condition named OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) are more predisposed to grinding. OSA is a condition in which the upper Airways get blocked and you must wake up momentarily to clear up your air way and then, go to sleep again. So, it’s a very good idea for these people to go to a sleep clinic and investigate further.

And the last one is to have a check-up with your dentist, because if the contact between the upper and lower teeth is not the way it should be, in some cases it could trigger some impulses which could create some muscle contractions and activate jaw muscles. This happens specially when you’re asleep and your brain unconsciously sends some impulses to muscles to eliminate those areas of interference between the teeth. So, in these cases, dentist is the best person to help you identify and to eliminate them. Also your dentist could help you by providing you with a night guard that you can wear during the night, just to make sure your teeth are safe and they won’t suffer more damage (possible wear and tear, chipping, Cracks, and fractures).

I hope these simple 3 tips are quite helpful. Please send us a message if you need more help with this issue.

Thank you very much and enjoy the rest of your day!
