Story Of Mrs “X”

Hi everybody!

Dr Shervin again here from Artistic Dental Studio with another blog, and I am going to tell you the story of one of my patients.

The reason why I am telling you this story is because what happened to this lovely lady is something that actually happens on a regular basis in every dental practice, and it could be quite beneficial to you because you could be one of these cases.

So, let me jump in:

Mrs X came to me more than two years ago for an exam and clean session. She had been pushed by her husband to have such a treatment done. She was very proud of her teeth, continuously bragging about them. She had been away from dentist for nearly 8 years, because she was under this impression that there was nothing wrong with her teeth. Her teeth looked very white, well-aligned and beautiful. The only issue she had was some occasional vague pain here and there and bleeding while brushing. After thorough exam, it dawned on me that her teeth were all OK and there were no cavities or decay, but Unfortunately what I found was gum disease, which had been present from a while back and she was not aware of. Unfortunately, it had affected her back teeth so severely that I had to remove 4 of them, because they had already lost a lot of gum and jawbone around and she was not aware of what was going on. (If you want to know more about gum disease, check the related blog).

She was quite concerned after I told her the truth. We could manage to motivate her to stick to some rigorous oral hygiene program, consisting of regular brushing and flossing. What we did basically was to arrange some sessions of cleaning for her and also as I mentioned, removal of her hopeless teeth. Then, after 6 months, we reached a stable condition, and we began the process of implant placement for her. It went really well and now after a year and half, she’s coming regularly to receive her dental check-up and cleans.

That was a rude awakening for her, But Luckily, we could manage to stop the process of gum disease in her mouth and that is the important point, because gum disease is something which is quite sneaky. In majority of cases, it does not produce any kind of pain or something alarming. It goes further down, and patients are not aware of it, until they feel some odour or foul taste, or they feel some of their teeth are a bit like wobbly, and by that time that could be quite too late.

So, my advice to you is to get your regular check-ups on 6 monthly intervals, this is what we are offering here at Artistic Dental Studio. This is something that we are very proud of, helping our patients get back to their best version and return to their ultimate oral health.

Thank you very much. I hope you had a nice take from this blog. If you experience any of these symptoms like occasional bleeding, any changes in your breath, I mean, if you experience any bad breath or something like that, or you feel dull, boring pain from time to time, please investigate further. Also, examine your gum in front of mirror. Normal gum should appear pinkish. If you see your gum is getting reddish, or a little bit puffy, you need to act. Always make sure you do not overlook these signs.

Enjoy the rest of your day. I will see you on another helpful blog.

We are always here to help!

Bye!
