What are fillings?
Dental fillings are also known as dental restorations and are used to repair damaged teeth, usually as a result of tooth decay. It is important to remember that cleaning and flossing your teeth correctly and visiting us for regular check-ups can prevent decay and avoid the need for a dental restoration.
Fillings with no needles and no drills
At Artistic Dental Studio we have invested in the latest in technology so you can be assured that you are receiving the best treatments around. One of the most exciting new developments you can experience at our practice is known as Air Abrasion Technology, which allows us to treat small to moderate-sized cavities without the need for a local anaesthetic or drill.
The “PREPSTART HYDRO” is a state-of-the-art device combining a gentle stream of aluminium oxide particles with water to simply “brush off” decay and simultaneously provide a clean tooth surface, ready to receive your filling.
With this technology, we completely eliminate the annoying vibration and heat that are produced by normal rotary drills. This means that we can carry out your procedure without an injection.
This technology is a huge leap forward in your comfort as well as how we carry out conservative and restorative dentistry. Please note, however, that there are still some limitations with this approach and it may not suit every case.
Book your appointment today to benefit from such an outstanding technology.
Also known as composite or white fillings, using a tooth-coloured material is the most popular and one of the most-up-to-date ways of restoring a tooth.
White fillings use a strong composite bond that binds to your teeth, resulting in a strong but natural looking restoration which can be colour matched to your teeth. They provide a long-term strength without the risk of fracturing the tooth, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing tooth, free from mercury and less susceptible to hot and cold sensitivities.
